Happy Family
Commissioned - Belgium
Often the image of a woman in traditional Yup’ik Eskimo motifs was depicted with a down-turned smile, but these fans depict a young family whose joy cannot be contained.
Their faces radiantly turned as though they are dancing, grateful to share life together. The woman has traditional chin tattoos.
The Reindeer fur is short and has color, expressing maturity only found in experience.
The blue, red, and brown pigments are symbols we are a part of the earth and sea.
